Prescription - Pricing Practices I'm just wondering what sort of "game" Longs plays with the pricing of prescriptions. Perhaps other pharmacies have the same sort of "game", but, then - this is the first time I've had this flip-flop talk from a pharmacy. I called for a price check on a prescription - did not provide information regarding insurance, discounts, etc. They quoted me a price - lower than all the other pharmacies in the area. I was checking because the first time I changed my service to Longs the quote was also $139, then when my discount card reduced the cost, I saved about $11. The second time I got my prescription filled, they claimed that my discount was deducted, but I only saved $3 on that refill. ?? Today I called for a renewal, but wanted to buy 2 since my prescription renewal expired in 7 days. The guy on the phone told me that without insurance, and without discount card, the additional refill would be another $24 -- over the price quote they provided yesterday! Reminder - when I called yesterday, I was an "unknown" caller, without consideration of insurance or discount ... WHAT'S the DEAL? What is Long's doing, why couldn't they sell me the additional refill at the quote given me, instead of claiming some nonsense that when I called yesterday they were giving me a quote from my discount information - WHEN THAT WAS A LIE!? When I called yesterday - they were asked for a "price check", and without any price reduction consideration - the quote was $24 -/+ different than what he said he'd charge me for a second prescription. I will check out other pharmacies now, because I think I was DOUBLE-TALKED at this LONG'S Pharmacy in Palm Springs. If anyone has any reasonable explanation, I'm willing to listen. g
