Editorial Review for Cabazon Dinosaurs – by Tara de Lis

In Short
Cabazon's concrete dinosaurs have been a beloved tourist trap for half a century, and a trip to Palm Springs isn't complete without a stop at Dinny--a four-story high Brontosaurus--and his comrade, a 65-foot Tyrannosaurus rex. Designer Claude Bell envisioned the area to include a Woolly Mammoth and Sabertooth Tiger as well, but additions were precluded when he passed away in 1989. Before leaving, pick up a souvenir at the small store in Dinny's belly.

WOW! What a fun place. My family and I recently visited the World's Biggest Dinosaurs and had a GREAT time in their new museum and park! The kids loved the robotic dinosaurs in the museum. They even got to ride on two of them! They have a great fossil cave at the entrance of the museum. We all had fun at the gemstone panning. We found some gemstones and interesting rocks. Our kids also had a good time at the dino dig where they found the marked quartz rock and won a dinosaur prize. The short walk along the dinosaur exhibition trail to hike up into the T-Rex was cool. I really think everyone would enjoy seeing the dinosaurs, museum, and park. It's fun and affordable. The prices have changed a little now that the new park is open. The admission is now $5.00 with kids under two free. Be sure to pick up your coupon/flyer for $1.00 off admission in the gift shop in "Ms. DInny" the long neck dinosaur. I was told this $1.00 off admission flyer was available for a limited time only.

Pros: Very family friendly, great helpful staff, outdoor misting system keeps you cool, lots of easy parking.

If youre off on a mini roadtrip/getaway, you defintely want to stop and check this out. If you appreciate the mid-century vibe of Palm Springs, than this is something you defintely don't want to miss. Two giant dinosaurs overlook the desert valley, a T-Rex and brontosoraus. There's a kitschy gift shop built in the belly of one of the beasts. The scene of many movies, it rates right up there with "The Cadillac Ranch" as far as roadside googies. To add some fun, check out the wide assortment of whoopee cushions the giftshop has before you pass the 100 windmills just before you enter Palm Springs. Look to your left and spot the Shell gas station.
