Yea the kid does act a little like the karate kid but in the end he rounds out the story and gets the job done. Watching Jacky and Lei together is great and the movie was a good family watch we all agree on that. It could have been done better but how long can it go on. Jacky adds to the fun and could have added more when Jacky and Jet were training the boy karate. All in all it was worth the watch and to own someday..........enjoy Oh maybe there will be a part two who knows.
Pros: Story; Action; actors
Cons: The part given to the boy was the weak point but in the end it rounded out in the end

This is a fun movie with some of the best martial arts/Hong Kong highwire that I have seen in some time. I never "loved" Jet Li, but I always admired his Kung Fu-in this movie I felt a bit more like that affection for him that I and most of the world have for Jackie Chan. He gets to play several characters but I just felt like roaring when he put his Monkey King thing in action! His portrayal of the Immortal Monkey King just gave me big smiles. I'm not sure why Jackie was not given the part since The Monkey King should be Jackie's middle name. Maybe its too obvious a choice. Anyway, I agree with the other reviewer, this one gets a bit much violence for young kids under twelve? and takes an awkward teen romance ride that left my stomach churning (or it could have been the twizzlers and coffee, dunno). I think everyone in the theater I was at genuinely enjoyed this one, I certainly did.
Pros: Jet Li, Jackie Chan, Dim Sum of Chinese culture in this retelling of the Monkey King tale
Cons: Teen romance aka Karate Kid 2-like is a grind IMO.
