Editorial Review for Citadel Factory Stores – by Dianne Molina
In Short
Driving south on I-5, you might be surprised to see what looks like an Assyrian castle rising into view. Behind this impressive facade--used in the movie "Ben Hur"--looms the Citadel, a pleasant outdoor shopping area with more than 40 factory stores and a food court. Without such high-end anchors as Barneys New York Outlet, this ancient outlet still offers respectable discounts on everyday labels. The bargains can vary depending on the day.

Insider Tips
Save MoneyLook for coupon books during regular center hours at L'eggs, Hanes, Bali, Suite 142 or online.
Save TimeCan't figure out what to get your favorite picky bargain hunter? Gift certificates are available from the Citadel Management Office and can be redeemed at any of the outlets in the center.
Know Before You GoThe Ann Taylor Factory Outlet and the well-stocked Van Heusen men's store offer deep discounts, but Benetton, Max Studio and BCBG average about 20 percent off retail prices.

The Citadel used to have these great little stores with big names: VAns, Old Navy, Reebox, Max Azaria, Ann Taylor and Betsey Johnson...but now, well it hasnt been too long, but they reconstructed it and included lots of more namebrand outlets like Calvin Klein, Puma, Guess, Charlotte Ruousee, plus there are great eateries and neat things always on sale at these stores...the parking lot is big

I like this little outlet because it is near the downtown area where I live. I also get coupons via email from Bass, Van Huessen, Geoffrey Been, and Izod. Calvin Klien, Anne Taylor and BCBG are there as well. Puma has a store there with 20% extra off shoes on the back wall. Shoe Pavillions prices aren't that great the prices in their regular stores are better. Week days are good.
Pros: Small and not as exhausting as the larger outlets
Cons: Very busy on weekends parking can be a pain on those days
